STATEMENT

My present work combines standalone videos with sculpture/installation,
usually with a primary component of inkjet printed video stills. There are
30 still frames (or printable images) in a second of video, and this provides
a plethora and wealth of visual information. I’m interested in creating a
bridge between a more familiar two-dimensional vehicle for images and
the dematerialized moving image video, even as humans we are constantly bridging, or grappling with bridging, the body/mind divide.

My practice as an artist is based in being an urban inhabitant, living in
New York City, and how one carries “place” inside oneself, and then again encounters the very real urban environment—mirroring this bridging
of forms of the immaterial and material. I’m excited about using moving
image video and still frames in creating a multidimensional experience.
