Smashing into the wall, uniting with the wall
2002; Plexiglas, colored tape, wire, plywood carts with wheels, ties, lemons, aluminum screening, buckets
132 x 192 x 192"
In this installation there are three wooden carts which I see as aspects of the self. The carts have wheels and can be seen to be in motion. The rectangles wrapped with colored tape are units of energy. The tape contains the energy and holds it in place, makes it a unit or bundle, while the colored lines are the apparition or appearance of the energy.
The left wall is a wall of art activity, energy, creation and desire. The floor area is the ground of the self. The energy in the carts is moving toward the wall and as though crashing into the wall - uniting with art or the self in creation. The top row of taped units are suns, "orgasms," heat, or fireworks, the explosion or releasing of energy from this process.
